Fuel, daylight, road conditions and realistic planning for drives across the Goldfields.

Where should I check road conditions?
Use the Main Roads WA Travel Map for current incidents, closures and roads open with conditions. Local shires may publish additional reports for local and unsealed roads.
Should I avoid driving after dark?
Daylight travel gives drivers more time to respond to wildlife, road trains, fatigue and limited shoulders. Main Roads WA recommends planning long-distance regional travel and checking conditions before leaving.
Where can I check current fuel prices?
FuelWatch WA publishes current regulated fuel-price information. Route tables on Kalgoorlie.info show the latest available data by named town and should not be read as a guarantee that a particular grade or station will be available.
Do I need a four-wheel drive for the main sealed routes?
The standard highways between major towns are intended for normal road vehicles in ordinary conditions. A four-wheel drive does not make a closed, flooded or prohibited road safe or legal. Check the exact route, conditions and hire-vehicle contract before taking any unsealed detour.
Which road-trip guides are available?
Use the road-trip hub for routes to Perth, Esperance, Menzies, Laverton, Broad Arrow and Lake Douglas. Each route still needs a fresh road, weather and fuel check before departure.
