Corrections Policy

How to report an error and how Kalgoorlie.info reviews and records corrections.

Report an error

Use the contact form and include the page URL, the statement you believe is wrong, the correction you suggest and, where possible, an official source link or document date.

How a report is reviewed

The editor checks the responsible primary source first, then reliable secondary material if the primary source is unavailable. A business request does not automatically change editorial copy. Personal account and Marketplace disputes are handled privately.

What happens next

Clear errors are corrected as soon as practical. A substantial correction may be noted in the article or editorial record. Minor spelling, formatting and translation improvements may be made without a public correction note. Review dates change only when the affected content has actually been checked.

Material corrections log

6 August 2026

  • Super Pit access and tours: corrected the former statement that active-mine tours were unavailable. KCGM public tours have recommenced on an authorised route with an internal lookout; independent mine access remains prohibited.
  • Super Pit directions and machinery: corrected the public-lookout road reference, removed an unsupported 800-tonne haul-truck claim and removed fixed blast-time, drone-penalty, toilet and access claims that were not supported by the operator pages checked.
  • Lake Ballard facilities: removed the statement that there was no toilet after a Shire of Menzies publication confirmed toilets at the free camping site.
  • KCGM ownership: corrected the record to show Saracen acquired Barrick’s interest, Northern Star acquired Newmont’s interest, and Northern Star took sole control after the 2021 Saracen merger.
  • Living in Kalgoorlie: corrected the TAFE provider and WA Nickel operating status, then removed the page and its translations from indexing pending a full evidence-led rebuild.
